Keeping its commitment to offer solutions that help individuals make a permanent shift to a healthier lifestyle, GOQii, world’s leading Virtual Fitness Coaching platform, partners with Greensole, a social venture into refurbishing of discarded shoes to comfortable footwear for the under privileged, as their latest Karma partner.

As per the recent study in 2013, by World Bank and WHO, more than 1.5 billion (1) people are infected by parasitic diseases like Hookworm, Schistosomiasis and Tungiasis that could be prevented by wearing proper footwear and millions are dying each year due to them. While, every year more than 350 million (2) pairs of non-biodegradable shoes are thrown away as they are no longer fit to use.

Speaking on the partnership, Vishal Gondal, CEO and Founder, GOQii said “We at GOQii firmly believe in bringing seamless lifestyle changes that help the body, mind and soul together and are constantly attempting to support social causes in whatever way we can. With Greensole coming onboard, we are providing our users with another platform where they can donate their footwear to someone who doesn’t own a shoe via GOQii’s karma points. The idea is more you walk and get healthy, the more shoes you donate and help others.”

In the GOQii world, Karma is a point-based system that enables users to earn points based on the number of steps they take in a day. By taking 390 steps, users earn 1 karma point which can then be donated to support a social cause of their choice through the GOQii App. GOQii has partnered with various charitable organization like Greensole and Oxfam.

Speaking on the occasion, Shriyans Bhandari, CEO and Co-Founder, Greensole said “We are delighted to partner with GOQii for its undying support towards different causes in order to give back to our society. We hope that through this initiative we are be able to encourage all users on the GOQii platform to donate their karma points and support the needy get their own pair of footwear.“

In addition GOQii and Greesole will also be hosting on-ground workshops for GOQii user base which will provide them with an opportunity to make shoes for the under-privileged.
