The Indian Institute of Oriental Heritage conferred the honorary doctorate in Oriental Heritage on Wave Group Chairman Raju Chadha recently for his selfless contribution towards promoting Indian values, ethos and culture through his various charities & non for profit activities. One of his recent initiatives was Wave Cinemas’s re-release of the iconic film Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai which stressed upon family values, selflessness and belief in the almighty which had left an indelible mark on a young Raju in 1969. The film explored the tenets of Sikhism through the saga of a family divided by misunderstanding and greed and reunited by faith.
“Every human being should imbibe three important virtues-courage, compassion & wisdom. I accept the doctorate with all humility & shall continue to strive to do selfless community work & that towards larger interests of humanity,” said Raju Chadha during his acceptance speech.
In 2015, Raju Chadha decided to re-release the film in a digitized and colour corrected version Inorder for today’s youth’s to experience the inner dimensions of love, care and empathy for humanity. Senior actors like Dharmendra & others came out in support of Chadha & lauded his efforts to bring this masterpiece in the forefront, especially in today s troubled times when youth is going astray. Thus, his faith, belief & respect for this great oriental philosophy finally bore fruit.
